OUR HISTORY
Like most civilizations, Xisin's beginning's were humble - a congregation of different races living by way of mutual understandings. You don't hurt me, I don't hurt you. Very simple. Individual villages made their own laws, and functioned according to their own convictions. There was no fear of persecution. War. Unnecessary pain. Suffering.
But with peace comes those that would choose to destroy it.
Maximilian Prezet. The man who started a war.
No one's really sure where human's got their arrogance from. After all, they're the least magically inclined of all the races. Maximilian saw it long before anyone else did, though, and began making speeches from town to town when he was only twenty five.
"We're better...We're pure...Our God is the only God..."
His words spread like poison and soon human's began to shun those of other races. Everyone, that is, except the Shifters.
The reason is simple. They believe in the same God.
It began with simple things, such as not allowing other races in certain stores and places. But then it got violent. There was a war on the horizon, and everyone felt it.
There was one group who didn't fear war - the group we know today as the Nightwalkers. They were strong, numerous, and gifted.
So they were persecuted first.
While the world was technically free to move around as it liked, it's not surprising to assume many of the same race lived together. And, true to their name, Nightwalkers are most active at night.
Humans and Shifters involved in the massacre would joke for centuries about how easy it had been.
They rampaged from dawn until dusk, killing any vampire, demon, or werewolf who happened to be in their path. The rest fled eastward towards uncharted territory, leaving the other races with nothing but fear.
They submitted.
The elves and faeries were nothing compared to the massive numbers of the human and shifter army. They held out for four months before they had no choice but to give up their cause - that they were not lesser beings and deserved their right to freedom.
This is how our present day borders were formed. The Humans and Shifters took the best of it, and left the remaining pieces for the others.
Today the racism has ebbed, but tensions still linger. No one has forgotten how, 1500 years ago, The Great War changed things forever.
