We remember The Great War as well as anyone else - even if we weren't there.
Our home, Tere...we're lucky it's ours, so far away from the chaos that was the mainland. Our isolation is what kept us safe from the Shifter and Human army. We had always farmed minerals and made things for the mainland, where we shipped our goods for wages. Not much has changed in that regard. For us, anyway. From what I hear those living inland are subjected to crazy prices since the goods have to travel through Sanchu and Aikia.
We're fortunate we don't have to leave the islands. It seems hardly anyone travels to the other kingdoms any more except to trade. It used to be that families would vacation, or adventurers would go on their searches there. Some still do. Most of us are afraid to. We've always minded our own business, us dwarves, and we will most likely continue to do so.
Leave that intricate diplomatic stuff for the other kingdoms.
