In Xisin’s earliest times, the people of the world resided in small tribes or factions, scattered throughout the lands and prospering with (mostly) peaceful trade. As populations grew, it became quickly evident that peace was only for beginnings. It did not start at the whims of any one race or person, but was rather the natural course for sentient beings. Independent towns had already started cropping up all over Xisin to feud over land and resources, but in time two quickly rose to having the most influence over their neighbors. Nestled along the coastline, Sanchu thrived as both a port city and trade destination. Denizens flocked to the marketplace to see foreign wares, reportedly gathered from throughout Xisin proper as well as the mysterious islands across the sea. To the west, Daika became the main city-town for the isolated populations in the mountains, boasting a surplus of natural resources that ultimately supported the means for a superior fighting force. Unlike Sanchu’s oligarchy of wealthy families, Daika’s government was a monarchy headed by Maximillian Pierce. Maximillian was a smart and ambitious man. In the first few years of his reign, he spent an inordinate amount of resources on building up an army, and within 15 years he had gained the allegiance of most of the nearby areas. In many instances, fighting was not necessary – but in many others, it was. In an act of defiance, some city-states appealed to Sanchu for protection. The Council of Atreya (named for one of Sanchu’s founding members) vowed to protect these city-states, so long as they agreed to become united under Sanchu’s authority. Some obliged, others did not – and so the borders were drawn. Not long after this agreement, Maximillian died. His heir was content with the Kingdom of Daika’s holdings, and politics across Xisin have been stable ever since.
